Heart Mind Love Exibition @ Propeller Gallery

February 8, 2025

I was honoured to be part of the Heart Mind Love Exhibition at Propeller Gallery and would like to thank the gallery and all of the artists that participated. The show was a massive success.

Heart, Mind, Love was a group exhibition from an Open Call featuring 98 works by 80 artists. The show invited visitors to consider how the union of heart and mind shapes our emotions, actions, and experiences of love. Blending artistic interpretation with cultural reflection this exhibition draws inspiration from global concepts of the heart, mind, and love.

“Existential Response to a Social Experience”

Artist Statement

The inter-connected relationship between the practical functionality of the heart and the expansiveness of the mind is what allows one to perceive, to feel and to love. “Existential Response to a Social Experience” explores the internal and external reactions one encounters when participating in social experiences and how they are translated to energy, feelings and interactions, both internally and shared with others.

Preying on Peace

December 31, 2024

“Preying on Peace” is 9ft wide x 4ft high and painted on 3 panels that became joined together in the process. This was a struggle to paint given it was inspired by current global events and the manipulation of what peace means and for who.

You're Part of Everything

“You’re Part of Everything” by Scott Mckean | Mixed Media on Canvas

In 2019 I began painting again after a long hiatus due to the volume of community work I was involved in and not having a place to work. I cannot paint in small places and I am not a neat painter. Following some renovations, I opened the studio.

Most rational people would have started with a small piece but after a long break, it appears that I had a lot to get out. This piece is 8ft wide x 6feet tall and was inspired by the song lyrics to a Sneaky Diseases (aka Gumption, aka Gumption MFG) song titled “Bubble” written by my talented friend Chris Stevenson. The song is currently being mixed and will be shared soon.

This piece was further inspired by my connection to the diversity, strength and brilliance of Toronto’s communities.
